Mr. Alvin Dunnigan of Addieville, departed this life in the Good Samaritan Regional Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 5:10 P.M. He had attained the age of 71 years and 8 days.
Alvin was born in Paragould, AR on August 18, 1944 the son of Harry and Gladys (nee Milburn) Dunnigan. In 1961 he answered the call of President Kennedy and joined the United States Army, Combat Engineers. Upon his discharge in 1964, Alvin followed his brothers to St. Louis to look for work.
Left to mourn his passing is four brothers and sisters, Sophie May Yancy of Knob, AR, Frank Dunnigan and wife Dorothy of Paragould, Ark., Donald Stephens and wife Kristy of Memphis, Tenn. and Connie Haygood and husband George of Marmaduke, Ark.; a sister-in-law; 12 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and great nephews as well as a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Milburn and Harry Dunnigan; and two nephews, David Dunnigan and Terry Yancy.
Committal services with military graveside rites were held at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis on Monday, August 31 at 9:30 A.M.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Okawville or to the family of Alvin Dunnigan and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
