As members of Zion United church of Christ continue their journey through the season after Pentecost, Pastor Howard Self will be delivering a sermon this next Sunday entitled: Equal in God’s Eyes. With the guidance and direction of Scripture readings from James 2:1-17 and Mark 7:24-37 listeners will have an opportunity to wrestle with the reality of our equality before God. The service will also include the Sacrament of Holy Communion during worship.

Members of Zion will also be working at the local Food Pantry on Saturday from 9 to noon.

The Trinity Lutheran Men’s Club are gearing toward their fall paper drive – September 19. Please save your paper for this worthwhile project. More details will be forthcoming.

The Octoberfest set for October 24 is going full-speed ahead! Bounce houses will be available for children’s enjoyment. The BBQ cook-off will allow patrons to vote for People’s Choice and a select group of judges have been set for determination of prize distribution. Washer and bags tournaments are slated for the fun filled day. The Octoberfest will begin at 12 noon in the Hoyleton Village Park and continue into the evening with a live band playing from 5 to 9 p.m.

Cole Hermann expresses appreciation to all who made the first Movie in the Park a success; as reported Cole is raising funds for his Eagle Scout Project of constructing a gazebo in the park. Cole raised $400 and is setting the stage for a second movie for September.
