Don and Nancy Russell celebrated their 55th anniversary by hosting a family gathering at the Drury Hotel in Mt Vernon. Those attending were daughters Pat Bronson and husband Gary; Michelle Wazlawek and husband Mike; grandchildren Josh Hensley and daughter Grace; Jeremy Hensley and wife Jacque and sons Alex and Easton and Catelyn Wazlawek, Zach Wazlawek and Ben Wazlawek. Also attending were Mike and Christy Mahr and children Colleen and Ryan. The Mahrs had come to the area to attend the balloon fest in Centralia. Christy Copple Mahr is formerly from Richview. On Sunday morning the group met at Ryan’s Restaurant for brunch and were joined by Mike Bronson and friend, Emily.
Judy Jones, Jane Nelms, Sandy Tomaszewski, Julie Schroeder, Norma Slone and Nancy Russell, members of The Happy Home Hour unit of HCE enjoyed a day trip to Kimmswick, Missouri with lunch at the infamous ‘Blue Bowl’ restaurant.
Sue Mayberry enjoyed a lunch date with her sister Joyce.

Lester and Lorraine Pitchford attended the annual Field Day held at the Ashley Community building last week enjoying the good food and fellowship. Many attendees stopped to talk and shake hands with the couple.
Where have all the hummingbirds gone? My guess is they are starting to migrate south as the nights begin to cool off. MLRP has been enjoying them, from her window with a view, all summer. It will be a sad day when Jimmy and his friends depart this area for warmer weather.
Only two weeks left until the Royal Neighbors of America hold their 27th annual ‘Matching Funds’ event (Bake Sale, Flea Market and Raffles) on Saturday, September 12 from 7 – 12 noon at the Ashley Community Building. Tickets are on sale now to win cash prizes, coupons, gifts and a wheelbarrow filled with groceries. Don’t forget to sign in for the door prize. Tickets are also on sale for two specialty baskets and an Autumn wreath. This year all proceeds will benefit the Ashley Grade School PTO. We are in need of baked goods from the community.
Be on the lookout, school has started and those kids you haven’t seen all summer are out there early in the morning either waiting on the bus or walking to school.
The United Methodist Church is collecting school supplies again this year. If you would like to donate school supplies, you can either bring them to church on Sunday morning or drop them off on my porch.
Richview United Methodist Church Youth Group will resume on Sunday evening, September 13th at 5pm.
