3rd Annual DuBois Dash 5K To Coincide With DuBois Center Fall Festival On Oct. 4
Preparations are underway for the 3rd annual DuBois Dash as it will once again coincide with DuBois Center’s annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 4.
The DuBois Dash 5K trail run – which also offers a family (and stroller) friendly 1-mile fun walk – is a unique experience for the area. Event chairperson Susan Fuchs explains that “this 5K is different than most in the area – we utilize our network of scenic wooded trails along rolling hills and the course takes you around both DuBois Lake and Deer Run Lake.” Fuchs adds, “Teaming with our popular Fall Festival really gives us the opportunity to showcase the entire property to the participants and they can spend a full day at DuBois Center.”
As in years past, proceeds from this year’s run will be focused toward funding the many ongoing projects and ministries DuBois Center promotes year-round. Shirley Asmussen, Director of Outdoor Ministries explains that “the Center is more than a summer camp – it is an ever-evolving mission that supports youth, local churches, and community efforts all four seasons. After serving the area for 50 years, the need for subsidized programs grows exponentially – and we need to be sure that we can meet that demand each and every year.”
Local businesses, churches, and families have already stepped up with the event’s sponsorship and underwriting efforts to ensure that the most money can be used for these important ministries.
All pricing and registration information is available online at www.DuBoisCenter.org. Race-day registrations are welcome, though the deadline to be guaranteed an official race shirt is September 19. Many volunteer opportunities exist for the entire day as well. Please contact DuBois Center if interested.
Operated by the Illinois South Conference of the United Church of Christ, DuBois Center offers an extensive summer camp program and has facilities available for use year-round for retreats, reunions, and meetings.
