The Nashville boys golf team took on 9 other teams on Thursday, September 10 as they hosted the Nashville Invitational. The teams participating were Nashville, Pinckneyville, Sparta, Waterloo Gibault, Chester, Greenville, Carterville, Murphysboro, Mater Dei, and Okawville.
Nashville came out on top with a score of 158, beating Greenville by 6 strokes. Mater Dei finished third, followed by Carterville and Okawville in the top five. Muphysboro did not record a team score due to the fact they did not field four golfers.
Leading the way on the course was Jakob Eklund, who shot a round of -1 with a 35, for Carterville. Right behind him was Nashville's top scorer of the day, Tyler Wall who shot an even par 36. Wall was followed by fellow senior Riley Edwards who shot +1 on the day and finished with a 37.
The team is back in action on Monday as they travel to Carterville to take on Carterville, Massac County, and Anna-Jonesboro. The team also has a match Wednesday when they take on Wesclin High School at Nashville Municipal Golf Course.
