Ray Chasen, 92, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on September 8, 2015.
Ray, one of 13 children, was born in Washington County on December 6, 1922, the son of John and Anna (Blus) Chwascinski. During WWII, he and four brothers served in the military. Ray was the only one injured. He received the Purple Heart. While recovering in Cleveland, he met the love of his life, Irene Macus. They married on September 29, 1945. She preceded him in death. He remained in Cleveland and retired as a letter carrier after 35 years of service.
Surviving are three children: Valerie Rock and husband, Michael; Clifford Chasen and wife, Carol, and Renee Kapron and husband, Jack, all of Ohio. He was the grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 15. His sister, Regina Kraus, of Okawville, and brother George Chwascinski, of Creal Springs, nieces, nephews and cousins also mourn his loss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-Leo, John, Frank, Joe, Steve, and Ben; sisters-Sophie Krzyzanoski and Clara Cimoch; as well as two siblings in infancy.
Funeral services and burial were held in Ohio.
