Girls Golf Gets Second At Conference

The Hornettes golf team participated in the Southern Illinois River to River Conference Golf Tournament on September 22. The tournament was held at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale. The Hornettes fell just short of capturing another conference crown as they lost to Pinckneyville by three strokes. Pinckneyville finished the tournament with a score of 365, Nashville finished with 368. Carterville finished third with 409, Anna-Jonesboro fourth with 424, DuQuoin finished fifth with 479 and Sparta rounded out the field in the Mississippi Division with a score of 507. Massac County won the Ohio Division with a score of 382 over Herrin, West Frankfort and Murphysboro.

Avery Rea from Carterville took home the top overall score in the Mississippi Division with a 77. The All-Conference medal winners for the Hornettes were Jill Guetersloh who finished fourth with a score of 88. Brooke Bartling was next in fifth with a score of 90. Rachael Kell was the next medalist for Nashville with a score of 93. The last all-conference medalist and scorer for the Hornettes was Jordan Stiegman who finished in a tie for eighth place with a score of 97.
