Pinckneyville Man, McCrary, Killed In Wreck On County Highway 12

An automobile accident on County Highway 12 resulted in the death of Zachary A. McCrary, 24, of Pinckneyville.

McCrary was the apparent unrestrained driver of a pickup truck heading west on County Highway 12 just east of Marissa Road when the vehicle ran off of the north side of the roadway, overcorrected and then reentered the roadway where it flipped onto its top, throwing McCrary from the vehicle into the roadway.

The Washingtonn County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the scene of the accident at 12:12 a.m. on Sunday, October 4. McCrary was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger at 12:39 a.m.

There will not be an autopsy, but Styninger did take toxicology samples.

Responding to the accident were Medstar Ambulance, Washington County Ambulance Service, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Marissa Police and Fire Departments.
