Volleyball Wins Triad Round Robin Tournament
Goes 1-1 In Conference

The Hornettes volleyball had a busy week in which they faced off against conference foes DuQuoin and Anna-Jonesboro before competing in the Triad High School Round Robin Volleyball Tournament on Saturday October 3.
The Hornettes week started out Tuesday night as they traveled to DuQuoin to face off in conference play. The Hornettes won a closely matched first game 25-21, and easily won the second game 25-10. The Hornettes were led by Mackenzie McFeron who had a team high 12 kills in the matchup. Alex Kubiak was second on the team with 4 kills. Allyson Grabowski, and Paige Kasten each contributed 7 service points in the game.
The Hornettes then traveled to try and get revenge on their only conference loss of the season when they faced off against Anna-Jonesboro. After dropping the first game 23-25, the Hornettes came back to take the second game 25-22. In the deciding third game, Nashville fell just short falling 18-25. McFeron again led the team in kills with 9. Paige Kasten was second with 6 kills followed by Janie Holle with 5 kills. Abby Kempfer and Deidra Holzhauer each had 3 blocks in the match. Macie Kellerman, and McFeron tied for the team lead in digs with 7.
The Hornettes then turned their attention to the Triad High School Round Robin Volleyball Tournament. The tournament featured Nashville, along with Triad, Glenwood, Collinsville, and Salem. The Hornettes came away with the tournament title after going 3-1 in the tournament.
The Hornettes lost their first matchup of the tournament against Triad 21-15, 20-22, 12-15. The Hornettes held a 10-5 lead in the third game but could not put them away.
The Hornettes then faced off against Collinsville. Nashville defeated Collinsville 21-15, 21-19 to take the match in two straight
games. In the first game the Hornettes were down 12-15 but the Hornettes scored 10 straight points to end the game. The second game was closer being tied at 18 before Nashville was able to take the lead for good.
Nashville then moved on to face Chatham/Glenwood in their third matchup of the day. The Hornettes came out slow in the matchup dropping the first game 7-21. The Hornettes were not phased coming back to win the final two games 21-17, 15-12. The win pushed their record in the tournament to 2-1.
The Hornettes final matchup of the day was against Salem. The Hornettes cruised to an easy win in the matchup winning 21-11 and 21-14. In the first game the Hornettes got off to a quick start taking a 6-0 lead. The Hornettes would use the hot start to take the game. The second game saw the Hornettes trail for the only time in the match as they fell behind 1-0. The Hornettes would then rattle off 13 straight points behind the serve of Allyson Grabowski.
Mackenzie McFeron led the team in kills in the tournament with 26 kills in 4 matches. Alex Kubiak was second on the team with 20 kills in the tournament followed by Abby Kempfer with 13 kills. Allyson Grabowski led the team with 36 assists in the tournament followed by McFeron with 16. Macie Kellerman led the team in defensive digs with 35, followed by Paige Kasten with 28 digs. McFeron, and Kayla Wesselman tied for third on the team in the tournament with 20 digs.
