The Washington County Board met on October 13 and approved a plethora of projects through the Highway Department. One approval was for the engineering contract for the resurfacing of County Highway 12, which will be funded with local money. The construction of it will be bid on in April, and construction is scheduled to begin in the late summer months.
Five drainage projects were approved in the Johannisburg District, due to the fact that the bottoms of the culverts have rusted through. County Highway Engineer Mitch Burdick told the board that mowing has been completed in the east side of the county as well as the southwest corner, mowing will now begin on the northwest corner.
Burdick also announced that there is enough in the budget to allow the county and townships to finish the winter months in the black. This is due to funding, as the Consolidated County Money, Township Money, and Township Bridge Money has all come in to the amount of about $122,000.
