Pastor Bill Groennert, Shirley Richards and Mary Lou Kitowski attended the Illinois South Conference of UCC annual meeting on Saturday at the the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
Harry Handy’s two brothers from Virden visited him this past week.
Vicky Buss and Darlene Ostendorf took a day trip up to Nauvoo on Friday. They took in the Morman history there and went to the Baxter Winery which is Illinois oldest winery. After the Mormans were driven out of Nauvoo, the Icarians seized the opportunity to move in. Their system of government didn’t work and the sect broke up. Five French Icarian families moved to Lively Grove Township here in Washington County. The Shubert family are descendants of these French immigrants. So it was a day of history and the autumn colors were good.
Megan Mitchell and friends ate at the Eagle’s Nest on Saturday night. Megan is now teaching music at Selmaville School.
Bob Blinn, Rita Crisel, Kenny Ostendorf, and Darlene Ostendorf celebrated with Mary Lou Kitowski on Saturday for her birthday.
Shirley Braeutigam of Mascoutah and Shirley Steinkamp of Centralia visited Darlene Ostendorf on Sunday afternoon.
