Hoyleton/Grand Prairie Thundercats Back In Action

The Hoyleton/Grand Prairie Thundercats were back in action on November 2 as they took on Spring Garden, this time at home. The Thundercats were coming off a championship in the Ashley Tournament that saw them defeat Hoffman, Ashley, Willow Grove, and Spring Garden in the championship game.

In a rematch of the championship game of the Ashley Tournament, the Thundercats fell behind early as Spring Garden took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. The defense of the Thundercats allowed for Hoyleton/Grand Prairie to outscore Spring Garden 8-2 in the second quarter to tie the game at 14 going into halftime.

Coming out of halftime Spring Garden was able to take the lead by five points going into the fourth quarter. A back and forth game, saw Hoyleton/Grand Prairie tie the game in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. Overtime saw Spring Garden pull away. The Thundercats dropped the championship rematch 31-37.

Leading the way for the Thundercats was Sydney Schnitker with 11 points. Taylor Stark had 9 points in the game, followed by Carlie Barban with 8 points. Lilly McKinney had 2 points and Emily Schnitker had 1 point in the loss.

The B-Team for Hoyleton/Grand Prairie got revenge for the loss by the A-Team by defeating Spring Garden's B-Team 30-16. Lilly McKinney and Carlie Barban each scored 10 points in the game for the Thundercats. Alli Jade Zalos added 8 points in the game, and Kirsten Twenhafel scored 2 points in the game.

The Hoyleton/Grand Prairie Thundercats were back in action November 5, when they traveled to take on Bethel.

The Thundercats got off to a hot start in the game outscoring Bethel 17-3 in the first quarter alone, led by Sydney Schnitker with 9 points and Carlie Barban with 6 points. Although the Thundercats were outscored in the second quarter, Hoyleton/Grand Prairie led 27-15 at halftime.

Bethel would come back in the second half, outscoring Hoyleton/Grand Prairie in each of the last two quarters. Even though the Thundercats were outscored by 5 in the third quarter, they still held a 7 point lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Thundercats again were outscored by 5 points, they held onto to win the game, 41-39. Hoyleton/Grand Prairie was led by Barban with 18 points in the game. Sydney Schnitker joined Barban in double figures, scoring 15 points. Lilly Taft scored 4 points in the game and Kirsten Twenhafel and Lilly McKinney each added 2 points in the win.
