Trinity–St. John/Immanuel Lutheran Titans Recap

The Trinity-St Johns/Immanuel Lutheran Titans lost their first game of the 2015 Girls Pinckneyville 204 Invtational Tournament by fought back to claim the Consolation Championship, this past week. The Titans took on Chester, Ashley, and Pinckneyville Jr. High in the tournament.

The Titans began the tournament, with a game against Chester, on November 2. The Titans got off to a fast start outscoring Chester 11-2 in the first quarter behind 8 points from Delany Toensing. The Titans were outscored 12-13 in the second quarter but were able to keep their lead and held a 23-15 halftime lead.

Coming out in the second half the Titans were again outscored in the third quarter but held a four point lead going into the fourth. The Titans put up 13 points in the fourth but couldn't stop Chester as Chester finished the quarter with 21 points to win the game by 4. Leading the way for the Titans was Toensing with 24 points. Katie May was second on the team with 7 points followed by Cayla Krueger with 6 points. Taylor Rapp had two points in the game and Grace Foster added a point to round out the scoring.

After losing their first game, the Titans were shuffled into the consolation bracket of the tournament and took on Ashley. The Titans dominated the game against Ashley, outscoring Ashley in every quarter. The Titans reached double figures as a team in every quarter except one. The Titans outscored Ashley 19-2 in the first, 14-2 in the second, 5-4 in the third and 16-3 in the fourth to win the game 54-11. Toensing and Taylor Rapp tied for the team lead with 13 points. Katie May joined Taylor Rapp and Toensing in double figures with 11 points. Krueger and Hanna Niedbalski each added four points in the game. Foster scored three points in the game and Magan Rennegarbe, Lauren Rapp, and Kris May each had two points to round out the scoring.

The last game of the tournament for the Titans saw them take on Pinckneyville Jr. High for the Consolation Championship. The Titans again came out strong ouscoring Pinckneyville 18-9 in the first quarter behind eight points from Taylor Rapp. TSJ/ILS extended their lead in the second quarter, as Toensing scored six points in the quarter. The Titans cruised after halftime, extending their lead in each quarter to win the game 51-29.

Toensing led the Titans with 19 points in the game. Taylor Rapp added 16 points to join Toensing in double figures. Foster scored 8 points in the game. Krueger scored five and Katie May scored 3 to round out the scoring in the game.
