Kathleen Mae Betlejewski

Mrs. Kathleen Betlejewski of Addieville, IL departed this life at her residence on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 3:55 A.M. following a courageous battle with colon cancer. She had attained the age of 69 years, 1 month and 29 days.

Kathleen was born in St. Louis on September 10, 1946 the daughter of Paul and Mae (nee Pope) Rauls. She was united in marriage to Arthur E. “Gene” Betlejewski in St. Louis on March 27, 1965 and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2007.

Kathleen was a long time resident of St. Louis before making her home in the community of Okawville, IL with the love of her life, her husband Arthur (Gene). Kathleen found great satisfaction in serving philanthropic causes in and around the Okawville area.

She served as a Member and former Trustee of American Legion Post 233, and was a proud supporter of the men and women who served our country. She was a regular at most American Legion events.

She was a past Treasurer of Washington County HCE, and a member of the Okawville NITE HCE. Kathleen was also a past Vice President of the Board of Directors of AGE SMART Community Resources.

In addition to the many philanthropic organizations served, she was also passionate about serving her beloved St. Barbara church. Along with being a parish member, she was also a former Trustee of St. Barbara, and member of St. Barbara Alter Sodality. She also served as President of the North Central Vicariate. Kathleen was also the Associate for the Newman Center Auxiliary representing St. Barbara’s Church.

Most of all, Kathleen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Arthur (Gene), her brother Paul Rauls, brother-in-law Larry Motsinger, and her parents Paul and Mae Rauls.

She is survived by her son, Todd Betlejewski of Orange County, CA; daughter, Christine Betlejewski of St. Louis, MO; two beautiful granddaughters, Brianna of Orlando, FL and Mychelle of St. Louis, MO; and two sisters Joyce Magyar and husband John and Linda Motsinger

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Steven Poole and Fr. Kenneth York officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
