New Dog Law In Illinois Starting Jan. 1

A new law will take effect in Illinois on Jan. 1 2016 which will help to protect dogs kept outside from extreme temperatures.

Now, if a pet is hurt or dies as a result of being left in extreme weather, the owner can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor and could be punishable by up to a $2,500 fine or up to one year in jail.
