Hornettes Win Opener

The Nashville Hornettes Girls Basketball team got their first win of the season as they defeated the Wesclin Warriors 48-31 in the opening game of the 2015-16 season.

The Hornettes came out quick on a 10-3 run, with Paige Kasten scoring eight of those points. The Hornettes led by six at the end of the first and seven at halftime. Leading by eight going into the fourth, the Hornettes used an 8-0 run to seal the win.

The young Hornettes team was led by sophomores Paige Kasten and Mackenzie McFeron. Kasten led the team with 17 points, followed by McFeron with 13 points. Janie Holle chipped in 9 points, Karly Stanowski had 8 and Libby Ahlers had one point in the win.

Coach Doug Althoff said about the win “That first wins always nice, especially if it’s the first game out of the gate, and it kinda gives them the satisfaction of puttting in all the hard work for three weeks and getting the win.
