Hornets Open Season With A Win

The Hornets tipped off the season this past weekend as they started play in the Lebanon Tournament on November 28. The Hornets first game came against host Lebanon. The Hornets defeated Lebanon by a final score of 59-32.
Both teams started off slow in the contest, but the Hornets were able to hold a four point lead at the end of the first quarter. The Hornets came out in the second quarter and were able to double their lead going into halftime. The Hornets took control and put the game away in the third quarter. The Hornets clamped down the defense and held Lebanon to just two points in the quarter. The offense broke out in the quarter scoring 22 points to give the Hornets a 28 point lead going into the final stanza. The fourth was the only quarter in which the Hornets were outscored, but the Hornets were able to win easily by a score of 59-32.
The Hornets were led in the game by senior guard Brady Bultman with 18 points in the game. Junior center Brogan Kemp also reached double figures with 13 points in the game. Royce Newman joined Kemp and Bultman in double figures as well with 10 points in the game. Junior guard Ryan Brink scored five points and senior Riley Edwards scored four points in the contest. Jaris Dalman chipped in three points in the game. Junior Hayden Heggemeier and junior Langdon Briles each scored two points and Ethan Reid scored one point for the Hornets in the win.
The Hornets continue their season this Saturday in the Lebanon Tournament on December 5 against Columbia. The Hornets' first home matchup of the season will be on Friday December 11, when they take on Anna-Jonesboro in their first conference matchup of the season.
