Hulda L. Jacobs

Mrs. Hulda Jacobs, a resident of the Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Nashville, and formerly of Okawville, departed this life in the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10:54 P.M. She had attained the age of 94 years, four months and six days.

Hulda was born in rural Okawville on July 18, 1921, the daughter of John and Ella (nee Bordewisch) Obermeier. She was united in marriage to Hugo H. Jacobs on June 21, 1942 in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Okawville and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1999.

Mrs. Jacobs was a homemaker and also worked in the Housekeeping Department of the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville for several years. She was a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Okawville. Hulda enjoyed quilting and baking. She also loved playing cards with her family and friends.

Left to mourn her passing is a daughter, Jacquelyn Schwankhaus and husband Stanley of Okawville; two grandsons; five great grandsons; a sister; five brothers; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lulu Randoll.

Funeral services were held from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Okawville on Saturday, November 28 with Pastor Eric Wood officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.
