Titans Girls Basketball Continues Success

The TSJ/ILS Titans Girls Basketball team kept up its winning ways by defeating Trinity Hoffman, Central City, and St. Ann.

The TSJ/ILS Titans A-Team took on Trinity Hoffman on November 16. The game was dominated by TSJ/ILS as the Titans jumped out to an early 18-2 lead on their way to a 54-9 victory. The Titans were led by Delaney Toensing with 19 points in the game. Taylor Rapp scored 12 points in the contest for the Titans. Katie May scored nine points in the game, while Cayla Krueger chipped in six points for TSJ/ILS. Grace Foster scored four points and Halle Rueter and Hanna Niedbalski added two points apiece.

The Titans were back in action November 23 against Central City in a high scoring matchup. The Titans trailed by four after the first quarter but the Titans came out on fire in the second quarter. The Titans outscored Central City 16-9 in the second quarter to take a 22-19 lead at halftime. The third quarter belonged to the Titans as they outscored Central City 16-6 to hold a 13 point lead going into the final stanza. Central City put up a fight in the fourth but were not able to come all the way back as the Titans were able to hold onto a 48-45 win.

Toensing scored 22 points for the Titans to lead the team. Taylor Rapp scored 12 points in the contest. Foster added seven points for the Titans, Katie May added four points and Krueger scored three points to round out the scoring in the game for the Titans.

The Titans went up against St. Ann on November 24. Again, the Titans came out on fire outscoring St. Ann 16-3 in the first quarter. St. Ann would not go down quietly, as the Saints came out in the second quarter and outscored the Titans 15-2 to tie the game at halftime. TSJ/ILS put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring St. Ann 21-2. The Titans cruised in the fourth quarter to a 52-24 win.

Taylor Rapp led all scorers with 25 points in the contest. Toensing also scored in double figures with 16 points in the game. Foster chipped in 5 points, Krueger scored four points and Megan Rennegarbe scored two points in the contest.

Abby Wesselman scored 12 points to lead St. Ann in the game, seven of which came in the second quarter. Delaney Varel scored six points for St. Ann, all of which came in the second quarter. Kyleigh Guizzy, Abby Maschhoff, and Anastasia Aydt all scored two points to round out the scoring for St. Ann in the game.

In B-team action TSJ/ILS defeated Trinity Hoffman 25-22. Krueger led the team with 10 points followed by Katie May with five points. Rueter and Niedbalski each scored four points apiece and Rennegarbe scored two points in the game. The B-team lost their next game against Central City 19-20. Katie May led the Titans with seven points. Krueger and Rennegarbe each added four points and Niedbalski added three points in the game. The B-team played their last game of before Thanksgiving break as they defeated St. Ann 31-8. Katie May led the Titans with 11 points in the game. Rennegarbe added eight points. Krueger scored five points. Kris May and Rueter each scored two points. Niedbalski scored one point in the game.
