Christmas Break Is Almost Here!
By Michael Brink-Nashville #49 Superintendent
It is hard to believe that Christmas break is almost here already!
As a reminder, the final attendance day for Nashville #49 students prior to the break is Tuesday, December 22 with a dismissal time of 2:10 PM.
The first day that the students will be back in session after the break is scheduled for Monday, January 4.
We have been very fortunate with the mild weather throughout November and December, but inclement weather will soon be here. As a reminder, Nashville #49 will post all school cancellations on channels 2, 4, and 5. Additionally, any cancellation will be announced on local radio station WNSV 104.7 and a School Messenger call will be made to all families. We will make every effort not to dismiss early from school after kids are already present. If weather conditions deteriorate quickly and we need to dismiss early, a School Messenger call will be made immediately. Please call me if you have any questions regarding our weather cancellation procedures.
Illinois School Report Cards were recently released by the Illinois State Board of Education. These documents can be found at www.illinoisreportcard.com. The report cards contain information such as attendance rates, revenues and expenditures, demographic data, and other information. The PARCC assessment, which is the new state testing system, is not yet included in the school report cards. Last school year was the first year for the PARCC test. We did, however, recently receive our results from that assessment from last school year. The percentage of students who were at levels 5, 4, or 3 was 49 %. More information and individual student reports will be released as we obtain more information from ISBE.
Nashville #49 will be adopting the annual certificate of tax levy on December 22 at 8 PM. The district will be conducting a truth in taxation hearing at that time since the expected tax extension will exceed a 5 % increase from last year. Informational documents related to the adoption of the 2015 tax levy have been posted on our web site at www.nashville49.org under the “Nashville #49 Documents” tab.
Finally, Nashville #49 would like to congratulate Mr. Donald Knight, who has served the district as an evening custodian for the past 17 years. Mr. Knight is retiring from the district on December 31. District #49 would like to thank Mr. Knight for his service and we wish him the very best in retirement!
