Titans Get Third Place

The Trinity St. John/Immanuel Lutheran Titans took home third place at the Trinity Lutheran Edwardsville 2015 Tipoff Tourney hosted by Trinity Lutheran School in Edwardsville. The tournament saw the Titans matched up against Pekin- Good Shepherd, St. John's Red Bud, Christ Community Kirkwood, Mo., and Immanuel Lutheran St. Charles, Mo..
The Titans began the tournament with a matchup against Pekin Good Shepherd on December 4. The Titans got off to a fast start as they outscored Pekin Good Shepherd 16-0 in the first quarter. The Titans were on cruise control from there as they led 26-2 at halftime, 36-4 after the third quarter before cruising to a 38-6 win.
The Titans were led by Delaney Toensign with a game high 14 points. Taylor Rapp and Grace Foster each scored eight points in the game. Cayla Krueger, Katie May, Halle Rueter, and Megan Rennegarbe each scored two points in the win.
The Titans next game came up against St. John's Red Bud on December 5. It was a close game throughout the first half, as the Titans led by three after the first quarter and just seven points at halftime. The Titans were able to extend their lead to eight points going into the final stanza where they put the game away. The Titans outscored St. John's Red Bud 9-0 in the fourth quarter to win the game 34-17.
Foster led the Titans with 10 points in the game followed by Toensing and Rueter with eight points apiece. May scored six points in the game while Krueger scored two points for the Titans in the win.
The Titans suffered their first loss of the tournament against Christ Community Kirkwood, Mo. The game was close in the first quarter, with neither team gaining an advantage. Tied at eight after the first quarter, Christ Community took control of the game taking a ten point lead at halftime. Coming out of the halftime break, Christ Community extended their lead to 13 points. The Titans could not come back in the fourth as they were defeated 31-48.
Rapp led the Titans in the game with 12 points. Toensing chipped in eight points in the game followed by Foster with seven points. May and Krueger each had two points in the loss.
The Titans finished up the tournament on December 6 in a game against Immanuel Lutheran St. Charles, Mo. The Titans trailed early in the contest as Immanuel Lutheran led 11-8 after the first quarter. The Titans were able to come out in the second quarter and take a two point lead going into halftime. The Titans were able to maintain their lead in the third quarter before putting the game away in the fourth. The Titans won by a final score of 34-23.
The Titans were led by Toensing with 11 points in the contest. Rapp scored nine points in the win while Krueger and Foster each had five points. May rounded out the scoring for the Titans with two points in the contest.
