David Paszkiewicz, 59, of Ashley, was killed in a farming accident at a property on Sugar Creek Road in rural Ashley on Thursday, December 10.
According to the office of Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger, the office was dispatched to the scene of the accident at 8:40 p.m.
The Coroner’s report states that Mr. Paszkiewicz was apparently mowing around a pond when the tractor he was operating turned over throwing him from the tractor and into the pond. The tractor then landed on the subject pinning him under the water.
The accident was found by the landowner who was summoned by the victim’s wife when he did not return from mowing.
Paszkiewicz was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Dr. Rodney Small at the scene.
Ashley Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington County Coroner’s office all responded to the accident.
Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger urged all area farmers to use extreme caution when mowing around ponds, lakes or steep inclines, stating that tragedies like this are all too familiar to Washington County in recent years.
