The Hoyleton Lions held their annual Christmas Party on December 8 at the Hoyleton Community Club. The tables were festively decorated by Bob Thorson, Gertie Holle, and Janet Klie. President Mark Styninger welcomed members, their guests, and widows of passed members. Recognition was given to Gertie and Janet for providing the meat for the meal.
The NCHS Madrigal Choir assembled and their sweet, full-toned voices filled the Red Room. A varied and delightful Christmas concert was performed acapella completely enthralling the audience. The Lions presented a donation to their director Steve Browne to assist in their upcoming trip to Carnegie Hall.
A special presentation was made at the meeting to Lion Bob Thorson as he received the Key Pin for membership recruitment.
As the buffet meal was enjoyed, Becky Styninger provided melodious organ music resonating the Christmas spirit throughout the large group of attendees. Marilyn Suedmeyer was the winner of the 50/50 drawing. A drawing was held for the Poinsettas gracing the tables. Winners were: Carlene Michael, James Koelling, Laverne Thorson, Lorraine Hake, Elaine Spenner, Patricia Rensing, Kurt Michael, Janice Niermann, and Gertie Holle.
As we move into the New Year, James Koelling will once again chair the Annual Lions Consignment Auction. The date has been set for February 27, 2016 at the Hoyleton Community Club. Both donations and consignments are being accepted. Please contact James 618-708-0384. Arrangements will be made for both drop off and pick up.
The Irvington Food Pantry sent a BIG thank you to the Oktoberfest Committee. As part of the festivities, the ‘Fest featured two BBQ basket drawings with entry being canned goods for the pantry.
Mark Sunday, February 28, 2016 on your calendar! The Hoyleton Community Club will be hosting their fried and smoked chicken dinner with all of the fixings.
