Jr. Hornets Suffer Rare Loss

The Jr. Hornets eighth grade team suffered a rare loss on the season against DuQuoin on December 10, while the seventh grade team was able to move to 10-2 on the season.

The Jr. Hornets eighth grade team was unable to keep up the momentum of a strong first quarter on their way to a 32-50 loss against DuQuoin. The Jr. Hornets jumped out to a 10-4 lead after the first quarter, but DuQuoin came back with a fury in the second. DuQuoin was able to overtake the Jr. Hornets in the second quarter to go into halftime with a five point lead. The third quarter belonged to DuQuoin as they extended their lead to seven points going into the final stanza. The Jr. Hornets could not make a comeback as DuQuoin was able pull away in the fourth quarter for the win.

Carson Parker led the Jr. Hornets in the game with 19 points. Matt Anderson scored seven points in the loss for Nashville. Gavin Love, Neil Kabat, and Jaxon Goforth each had two points apiece in the game.

The seventh grade team kept up their strong season, as they defeated DuQuoin 31-24. The game was even early on as the two teams were tied at five after the first quarter. Nashville was able to edge ahead before halftime, taking a one point lead into the break. The Jr. Hornets took control of the game in the third quarter, racing out to a 10 point lead entering the final quarter. Nashville was able to hold on to a seven point victory 31-24.

Nashville was led in the game by Gavin Baldwin with 13 points. Nolan Heggemeier was second on the team with six points in the game. Preston Dagner chipped in five points, while Bryce Donato added three points. Goforth and Kolten Gajewski each had two points in the win for Nashville.
