Mr. Donald L. Gross of Oakdale, departed this life at his residence in Oakdale on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 9:02 A.M. He had attained the age of 69 years and 27 days.
Mr. Gross was born on November 22, 1946 in Belleville, the son of Oscar and Gertrude (Kessen) Gross. He was united in marriage to Colleen Mehner on May 12, 1967 at St. Albert’s Church in Fairview Heights, and she survives his passing.
Donald was a locksmith and he owned and operated Authorized Lock Service in Belleville, since 1980. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, Donald loved his grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events, woodworking and being outside.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Colleen Gross of Oakdale; a daughter, Becky Wuebbles of Nashville; a son, Rob Gross and his wife Daralynn of Steeleville; his mother, Gertrude Gross of Nashville; four grandsons, Brock Wuebbles, Owen Gross, Alex Wuebbles and Jacoby Gross; a sister-in-law, Jeanie Gross of Belleville; a niece, Andrea Schaeffer of Floraville; a nephew, Dr. Joe Gross of Fairview Heights; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Roger Gross.
Mass of Christian burial was held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lively Grove, on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11 A.M. with Fr. Steven Poole and Fr. Dennis Voss officiating. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale.
Mass offerings or memorials may be made to the NCHS Sports Boosters or the Steeleville Sports Boosters and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting family with the arrangements.
