The Hornettes basketball team used a huge first quarter to keep their winning streak alive against the Carterville Lady Lions. The Hornettes won their fifth straight game on the season and have won all three of their conference game thus far this season.

The Hornettes got off to a hot start in the game, outscoring Carterville 17-2 in the first quarter. In the first quarter, the Hornettes were led by Mackenzie McFeron with seven points, and Paige Kasten with six points in the quarter. McFeron scored the final eight points in the third quarter as Nashville ended the quarter on a 10-4 run to help push the Hornettes lead to 13 points going into the final quarter.

Again Carterville would try to rally, as the Lady Lions outscored Nashville 24-16 in the fourth quarter. Down the stretch the Hornettes got free-throws from Janie Holle and Kasten to seal the 54-49 victory for Nashville.

The Hornettes were led in the game by McFeron with 19 points. Joining McFeron in double figures was Holle with 13 points, and Karly Stanowski with 10 points. Kasten chipped in nine points for the Hornettes and Rachael Kell scored three points to round out the scoring for Nashville.
