Alex Kubiak, senior member of the Hornettes volleyball team, has signed her letter of intent to play volleyball next season for the Rend Lake Warriors. Kubiak said she chose Rend Lake because “ I would say, three of my Aunts all got volleyball scholarships, and when Sara Crews came up to me to saw she was interested, I got really excited because of course I love volleyvall, and I was like Rend Lake, I know I want to got there.” Kubiak finished this season 2nd on the Hornettes with 154 kills, and had 28 aces on the season, and was fifth on the team with 197 service attempts in 81 games for Nashville.
Kubiak will be playing outside hitter most of the time next season for the Warriors. Kubiak says her biggest adjustment will be “definitely a lot more training, and a lot faster game.” Rend Lake head volleyball coach Sara Crews reiterated how big of an adjustment that it will be, “ The speed of the game is a big deal, most high schools don't play at the speed we do in colled, and the conditioning to be able to play three out of five instead of two out of three is big.”
At Rend Lake Kubiak plans to major in music therapy. Nashville Coach Josh Konkel, praised Kubiak, “Alex is just a strong player, she may not be the quickest, but she will get kills, and blocks and do what it takes to get the job done.” Kubiak will be joined by fellow Hornette Kayla Wesselman next season.
