TSJ/ILS Titans Win 4 of 5

The Lady Titans started off their most recent stretch with a loss against Waltonville on December 7, but have not lost since. The Lady Titans have since defeated Tamaroa/St. Bruno, St. Marks/Steelville, Trinity Edwardsville, and Hoyleton/Grand Prairie.

In their game against Waltonville, on December 7, the Lady Titans gained a three-point edge after the first quarter, but could not hold onto the lead. Holding a 14-11 lead going into the second quarter, the Lady Titans were outscored 7-17 in the second quarter and trailed by seven going into half. Coming out of halftime TSJ/ILS were able to chip into the Waltonville lead, but still trailed by six, going into the final stanza. The comeback effort for the Lady Titans came up short as they were defeated 41-46 by Waltonville.

The Lady Titans were led by Grace Foster, and Katie May with 11 points apiece in the loss. Delaney Toensing also scored in double figures, with 10 points. Taylor Rapp rounded out the scoring for the Lady Titans with nine points.

The Lady Titans got back on the winning track against Tamaroa/St. Bruno on December 10. TSJ/ILS used a big third quarter to win by a score of 55-37. Both teams came out slow in the game, but the Lady Titans held a slim 6-4 lead after the first quarter. A close game throughout the first half, the Lady Titans held a slim 19-16 at the halftime break. Coming out of halftime, the Lady Titans took control of the game, as they outscored Tamaroa/St. Bruno 20-10 to take a 13 point lead into the last quarter of play. The Lady Titans were able to cruise from there to a 55-37 win.

Taylor Rapp led all scorers with 21 points in the game. Toensing was also in double figures with 14 points in the contest. Katie May added nine points in the game for the Lady Titans. Foster scored five points in the game, while Cayla Krueger scored four points to round out the scoring.

The Lady Titans next game saw them use a big second half to defeat St. Marks/Steelville 56-31. TSJ/ILS took the lead in the first quarter, and led throughout the game. The Lady Titans took a 11-9 lead after the first quarter, and were able to hold on to their two point lead at halftime. The Lady Titans took control in the second half outscoring St. Marks/Steelville 18-5 in the third quarter, and 14-4 in the fourth quarter, on their way to a 56-31 victory.

Leading the way for the Lady Titans, was Toensing with 16 points. Foster and Taylor Rapp each scored 12 points in the game. Katie May added eight points for TSJ/ILS, while Krueger and Megan Rennegarbe each added four points in the game.

The Lady Titans kept up their winning ways on December 15, as defeated Trinity Edwardsville 48-33. Trinity Edwardsville took the lead early, as they led 13-12 after the first quarter, but the Lady Titans came back with a vengence, outscoring Trinity Edwardsville 14-5 in the second quarter, taking a 26-18 lead at halftime. The Lady Titans kept up the pressure extending their lead to 37-25 going into the final quarter. TSJ/ILS cruised from there winning the game 48-33.

The Lady Titans was Katie May with 18 points in the game. Toensing joined May in double figures with 13 points in the game. Taylor Rapp scored nine points in the game, followed by Foster with six points. Krueger added two points to round out the scoring.

The Lady Titans last game of the week, saw them defeat Hoyleton 41-28 on December 17. The Lady Titans took the lead early, and held the lead the entire game. Taking an 11-9 lead after the first quarter, the Lady Titans took control in the second quarter, outscoring Hoyleton 12-4, taking a 23-13 lead at halftime. The Lady Titans were able to extend their lead in the second half and cruised to a 41-28 victory.

Toensing led the Lady Titans with 19 points in the game. Taylor Rapp also scored in double figures with 14 points in the game for TSJ/ILS. May, Krueger, Foster, and Rennegarbe each added two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Titans in the game.
