Financial Aid:

Students and parents of seniors should start thinking about financial aid for college. Informative websites to check out are:,, and The FAFSA form is available online and can be completed starting on January 1, 2016.

Financial Aid Workshop – NCHS:

One of the first steps of the college financial aid process is completing the FAFSA form. NCHS will offer a free workshop to assist students and/or their parents in completing the FAFSA form. Those attending should bring the following information (if available): student’s driver’s license, student’s social security card, 2014 federal tax records for both the student and parents, records of untaxed income, and information regarding net worth of family and student assets. The workshop will be at NCHS on Tuesday, January 26 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The FAFSA form is available for completion beginning January 1, 2016 at

High School Pharmacy Camp:

The University of Illinois College of Pharmacy at Rockford program is inviting current high school students interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy to apply for the High School Pharmacy Camp. Students will explore the field of pharmacy though instruction and activities led by current pharmacy students. The camp will last from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM at the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in Rockford. The cost is $25. Registration is due by March 11, 2015. Kaskaskia Foundation Scholarships:

The Foundation scholarship application is open and ready for students to start applying! Follow the link below to get started: Students will need to create a log in and after that it will take them to the same screen where they apply to be a student.  On the right hand side is the scholarship application button.  Students will need their KC id numbers for their application. The early application deadline is January 30th!


An ACT (without the writing portion) will be given for juniors at the high school on Tuesday, April 19th. This test is optional. The cost for students is $39.50. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office.

ACT Prep Classes:

Listed below are various ACT prep classes being offered in our area to help students prepare for the ACT. Contact Mrs. Luessenheide or Mrs. Maschhoff for more specific information.

* Online ACT or SAT Prep Class – This online ACT or SAT prep class is offered through SIUC’s Division of Extended Campus. The class lasts for approximately 6 weeks and costs $94. Call Dr. Kathy Smith at 618-453-5684 if interested.

* Webster University – Two different one day workshops: January 16 and March 19 from 8:00 AM-2:30 PM. Cost is $50. Register online at:

ACT Testing Dates:

The next ACT test with is February 6. Registration is due by January 8. Additional ACT testing dates for the year are April 9 and June 11. Registration is typically due 5 weeks before the testing date. Students may register at Our high school code is 143-110.
