Edna Blumhorst Suedmeyer

Mrs. Edna Suedmeyer of Nashville, formerly of the Plum Hill area departed this life in the extended care unit of the Washington County Hospital in Nashville on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 8:41 A.M. She had attained the age of 91 years, 3 months and 24 days.

Edna was born in Plum Hill Twp., Washington County, on September 10, 1924 the daughter of Henry and Wilhemenia “Minnie” (nee Eigenrauch) Moehlenkamp. She was united in marriage to Virgil Blumhorst on September 17, 1941 in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1977. She then married Albert “Bud” Suedmeyer on November 28, 1980 in the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2003.

Mrs. Suedmeyer was a farm wife and homemaker. She formerly worked as a clerk for Leo Kramper Auction Service and she worked as a waitress at The Eagles Nest in Addieville. She was a faithful member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill, where she was a former member of the Women’s Guild. Edna had also attended the Immauel Lutheran Church in Okawville with her husband Albert. She enjoyed gardening and quilting and loved reading to her children and grandchildren, but in recent years her grandchildren would read to her.

Left to mourn her passing is her children, Phyllis Stegman and husband Orville of Addieville, Merle Blumhorst and wife Marilyn of Addieville and Alan Blumhorst and his companion Marty Stanberry of Nashville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Allman and husband Mark, Shane Blumhorst and wife Michelle, Ryan Blumhorst and wife Amy, Dawn Kasten and husband Craig, Jeff Goforth and wife Kelly and Jason Goforth and wife Deitt; 12 great grandchildren, Madelyn Allman, Mallory Zimmer, Taylor Blumhorst and fiancé Chris Storey, Austen, John and Sam Blumhorst, Zachary and Carly Kasten, Peyton, Olivia, Jaxon and Ryann Goforth; three step daughters, Ruth Ann Kellerman of Nashville, Charlotte Durham and husband Bill of Okawville and Betty Lynn Markowski of Nashville; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Meyer and two brothers, Ray and Wilbert Moehlenkamp.

Funeral Services will be held from the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Don Jones officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home of Okawville on Wednesday from 7:30 A.M. until 9 A.M. then at the church on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the service hour.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. John Cemetery or St. John Building Fund and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
