Mr. Francis “John” Johnston of Nashville, departed this life at Washington County Hospital Extended Care in Nashville on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 4:30 PM. He had attained the age of 74 years, 6 months and 9 days.
Mr. Johnston was born on July 7, 1941 in Parsons, Kan., the son of Francis “Mose” and Anna (Blase) Johnston. He was united in marriage to Shirley Spriggs on June 10, 1961 in South Mound, Kan., and she survives his passing.
John worked as a grain elevator manager for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Mary Magdelan Catholic Church in Todds Mill. John enjoyed coyote hunting, gardening, dogs, being outdoors, and he loved his family.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Shirley Johnston of Nashville; two children, Linda Foster and husband Mark of Utah and Kenneth Johnston of Belleville; two grandchildren, Amanda Derfler and husband Matt and Stephanie Boren and husband Tim; one great grandson, Grayson Derfler; a sister, Sue O’Brien of Parsons, Kan.; other relation and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Delores Paulie and Patricia Collins.
Per the wishes of John and his family, cremation was performed, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
