Mrs. Delta I. Johannes of Ashley, departed this life in the emergency room of the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 7:05 AM. She had attained the age of 87 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Delta was born in Pilot Knob Twp., Washington County, on May 18, 1928 the daughter of Thomas and Emma (Berteloth) McConnell. She was united in marriage to Howard Johannes in the St. Mark United Church of Christ in Dubois, on September 2, 1950 and he survives her passing.

Mrs. Johannes was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of the St. Mark United Church of Christ in Dubois where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, baking cakes and crocheting but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Howard Johannes of Ashley; three sons, Larry Johannes and wife Sandy, Keith Johannes and wife Janice and Glen Johannes all of Ashley; four grandchildren, Laura Henson, Jaci Amberger and husband R.J., Adrienne Sanford and husband Nathan, and Dustin Johannes and his fiancée Ashley Hempen; seven great grandchildren, Rebecca and Joseph Henson, Adalynn Flood, Remington and Barret Amberger, Nate Sanford and Abigail Johannes; three step grandchildren, Shelly Brown and husband Greg, Don Partl and wife Jen, and Carol Musgrave and husband Curt; six step great grandchildren, Gabi and Brice Brown, Josh and Jake Partl, and Shea and Ashley Musgrave; nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy; three sisters, Dorothy Carle, Alberta Cordes and a sister in infancy; and two brothers, Ray McConnell and Milford Merrell McConnell.

Funeral services were held from the St. Mark United Church of Christ in DuBois on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at with Rev. Tom Elllison officiating. Interment was in the St. Paul Cemetery in Nashville.

Should friends desire memorials may be made to the St. Mark United Church of Christ and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
