Cindy J. Barr

Mrs. Cindy J. Barr of Nashville, departed this life at her residence in Nashville, on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 6:42 PM. She had attained the age of 64 years, 10 months and 11 days.

Cindy was born on March 29, 1951 in Paxton, the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Akers) Quivey. She was united in marriage to John C. Barr on May 31, 1975 in Nashville, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2011.

Mrs. Barr attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and received a degree in Elementary Education. She worked for Nashville District 49 in Nashville as a middle school teacher for many years until her retirement. Cindy enjoyed golfing, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, going to the casino and being with her friends and family.

Left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Scott Barr and his wife Ashley of Rock Hill, S.C. and Steve Barr and his wife Kimberly of Highland; two grandsons, Colton John Barr and John Thomas Barr; a brother, Jeff Quivey and his wife Mary Ann of Steeleville; a sister, Dr. Julie Quivey and her husband Herb Grindley of Mahomet; brother-in-law, Mike Barr and his wife Mary of Centralia; two nephews, Weston Quivey and his wife Marina and Mitchell Barr and his wife Ashley; a niece Elise Quivey; a great nephew, Bailes Barr; other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Steven Quivey; father and mother-in-law, John J. and Ruth Barr and a sister-in-law, Becky Barr.

Per the wishes of Cindy and her family, cremation will be performed and a celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1 PM.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, on Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 5 PM until 8 PM and on Friday from 12 PM until the service hour.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the John Barr Memorial and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
