The Okaw River Basin Coalition (ORBC) will have its annual meeting on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Germantown, Illinois.
There have been several issues affecting the Okaw River Basin recently. Due to the recent flooding events and two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Studies, the following presentations will be given at this ORBC Meeting:
1. Army Corps of Engineers Master Plan for Carlyle Lake.
2. Water Control – Flooding over Interstate 70
3. Kaskaskia Watershed – From Lake Shelbyville down to the Mississippi River
4. Effects of the Clean Water Bill
Each presentations is limited to 10 minutes. Many questions have been brought forward since the USACE Meetings. The possible dredging of Lake Shelbyville, Carlyle Lake, and the Kaskaskia River Navigation Project has also been discussed.
All comments regarding the USACE Master Plan for Carlyle Lake and the Kaskaskia River Navigation Project are due February 29, 2016.
We invite all members and anyone who may be interested in or in any way affected by the management of Lake Carlyle and the Kaskaskia River Basin from Carlyle to Fayetteville.
This should prove to be a very educational and informative meeting.
There will be a luncheon following the meeting.
