Ashley

Melody Turner 314-0684

I would like to tell you how Ashley Community Committee started.

A group in town folded and Fred Johnson asked me to form a group to do things for the kids and families in the area.

So I invited several people to a meeting and our group began.

The original four members were Pat Shelton, William Strong and Barb Myers and myself.

The group that folded donated the money they had left to Ashley Community Committee.

Our mission is to work towards making Ashley and the surrounding area a more family friendly community and doing things for the kids in the Ashley Grade School District.

Every event we do we try to keep the kids in mind. Ashley Community Committee and Ashley Grade School collected plastic lids for plastic benches and the class that collected the most lids received a free pizza party from Ashley Community Committee in May 2015. In December of 2015 at the end of the plastic lids collection Ashley Community Committee donated treat bags to the entire grade school. Over 800 pounds of plastic was collected and Ashley Community Committee will cover the cost to purchase two benches one for the school and one for the park. Benches will be picked up in April.

Last year the City of Ashley spent a $1,000.00 on fireworks and Ashley Community Committee added $300.00 at the last minute.

Ashley Community Committee is fortunate that local business’s support Ashley Community Committee and generously donate.

Last years donations paid for Rainbow Ranch with Ashley Community Committee only having to pay $50.00 towards Rainbow Ranch. Ashley Community Committee is not funded by the city we are a non profit group.
