Ms. Sally Jane Cooper of Ashley, departed this life at her daughter’s residence in Ashley, on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 7:16 AM. She had attained the age of 80 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Ms. Copper was born on September 24, 1935 in Springfield, the daughter of Bernard and Ruth (McCoy) Bennett. She was united in marriage to John A. Cooper on June 26, 1953 in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1985.

Sally worked as a nurses’ aid for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Ashley Methodist Church. Sally enjoyed reading and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing is a daughter, Ruth Kannall and fiancé Elmer Lamczyk of Ashley; a son, John Cooper and his wife Sandy of Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Ricky Tongate and wife Crystal, Kenny Tongate and wife Amanda, Staci Schuster and husband Bill, Britany Guinzy, Bruce Guinzy and wife Stacey, Deborah Guinzy, Jared Kannall, Justin Kannall and wife Heather, John Cooper III and Brian Cooper; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three brothers; Bernard Bennett Jr., Bill Bennett and wife Rita and Michael Bennett; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Vicki Guinzy.

Funeral services were held at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 12 PM with Rev. Dennis Gambill officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashley City Cemetery in Ashley.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
