Baseball And Softball Site Assignments Announced

The IHSA Class 2A baseball and softball site assignments have been announced, with Nashville High School hosting a baseball regional, as well as the softball sectional. The seeds for baseball and softball will be announced on May 3. The brackets will be announced on May 11.
The Hornets baseball team has been placed in the Sauget (GCS Park) Super-Sectional. The Hornets correlated sectional site, will be at DuQuoin High School. Last season DuQuoin defeated Nashville in the sectional final. The Hornets have been placed in Sub-Sectional B. The two regional sites in the sub-sectional are Chester and Nashville. The Hornets sub-sectional is full of conference rivals as Anna-Jonesboro, Carterville, DuQuoin, Pinkneyville, and Sparta are all in their sub-sectional, along with Chester, Murphysboro, Red Bud, and Waterloo Gibault. The teams listed in Sub-Sectional A of the DuQuoin sectional are Carmi-White County, Eldorado, Fairfield, Johnston City, McLeansboro, Mt. Carmel. Vienna, Waltonville, West Frankfort, and Zeigler (Z. Royalton). The winner of the DuQuoin sectional will face the winner of the Teutopolis Sectional at GCS Park in Sauget on May 30. The regional gets underway May 16, the sectionals begin on May 25.
The Hornettes softball team will look to defend their state championship in a tough sectional. The Hornettes have been placed in the Johnston City Super-Sectional. Nashville High School will host a sectional this year, but will have to make it out of a tough sub-sectional. The Hornettes have been placed in a Sub-Sectional B along with Anna-Jonesboro, Carterville, Chester, Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Red Bud, Sparta, Wesclin, and Vienna. The two correlated regional sites for the Hornettes are Pinckneyville and Carterville. Sub-Sectional A in the Nashville Sectional features Carmi-White County, DuQuoin, Eldorado, Fairfield, Johnston City, McLeansboro, Mt. Carmel, Waltonville, West Frankfort, and Zeigler (Z.-Royalton). The winner of the Nashville Sectional will face off against the winner of the Shelbyville Sectional in Johnston City on May 30. The Regionals begin on May 16, with the sectionals beginning on May 24.
