Special Events To Be Held At Immanuel Lutheran On April 17
Members of the community, alumni and supporters of Christian education are invited to attend Immanuel Lutheran Church on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Dr. Dale A. Meyer, President of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis and former pastor at St. Salvator, Venedy, will be in attendance at Bible Class, which begins at 9:00 A.M., and will preach at the 10:00 A.M. worship service. Rev. Eric Wood will be the liturgist. The children’s choir from Immanuel Lutheran School will sing during the service. A roast beef and smoked pork chop meal will be served at the school after the service. Please RSVP for the meal by calling the school office at 243-6142, or 618-322-7998, by noon on April 15, 2016. You are welcome to attend the meal even if you are unable to stay for the additional activities. There will be a very short meeting of the Alumni & Friends Association to elect board members. A carnival is schedule for the children and a small auction will be held. Each classroom will be creating an item for the auction and there will be five autographed baseballs sold. Former Interim Pastor Darwin Schrader and his wife, Karen, have donated baseballs that have been signed by Cardinal players. The baseballs have been autographed by Adam Wainwright, Kolten Wong, Brayan Pena, Matt Adams and Carlos Martinez. If you are unable to attend the event, but would like for offer a bid for the baseballs, please call 618-322-7998 to do so. The special activities that have been planned for the day are in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Alumni & Friends Association. The group was formed to raise funds for the benefit of Immanuel Lutheran School. Some projects are organized each year the compliment other local events. A Party Supply Sale and Huge Yard Sale are held each year during Heritage Days in June to draw additional patrons to town for the museum’s weekend event. It was suggested that a Flea Market would be a welcomed addition to the Christmas Stroll. The first year’s Flea Market was held in vacant space uptown. Vendors expressed the desire to continue to participate in the event, but wanted a location that provided food on site. Since that date, the event has been held at ILS. Christian education has been a mission of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1908. The school is accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation. Please join the events of the day as praise and thanksgiving is offered for the blessings that God has bestowed upon ILS.
