Harre First Team All-District
Southern Illinois softball junior Shaye Harre was named first-team Academic All-District, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday. Harre earned the honor for the second-straight year, and Saluki Softball has had at least one student-athlete honored for 14 consecutive years.
Harre is now a two-time Academic All-District honoree, having also earned the honor last year as a sophomore. She holds a 3.88 GPA in animal sciences. This year, Harre is hitting .357 with 12 doubles, 12 home runs and 38 RBIs. She is slugging .738 and reaching base at a .506 mark. Her 12 home runs rank fourth in SIU single-season history, and her 37 walks drawn rank fifth in SIU single-season history.
Harre was one of 11 student-athletes in District 5 named to the First Team. District 5 is comprised of all Division I universities in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Harre is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on May 26. Southern Illinois softball has 24 Academic All-Americans in program history, ranking second nationally behind Nebraska (29).
