Hornets Grab Top Seed In Regional

The IHSA Class 2A baseball brackets were released on May 4. The Hornets received the number one seed in their sub-sectional. The Hornets have a record of 22-5 on the season, and will host their regional this year.

The Hornets will open up play at home on May 18 at 4:30 pm against the winner of Pinckneyville and Sparta. The two other teams in Nashville's regional are Waterloo Gibault, and DuQuoin. The Hornets have defeated DuQuoin, Sparta, and Pinckneyville twice this season, but dropped an 8-1 game to Waterloo Gibault on May 5. The Regional Championship would take place on Saturday May 21, at 11 am.

If the Hornets win their regional, Nashville would move onto the DuQuoin Sectional. The Hornets would face the winner of the McLeansboro (Hamilton County) Regional. The top seed in the McLeansboro Regional is Carmi (C-White County). The Super-Sectional would take place at GCS Park in Sauget on May 30, and the State Semi-Finals and State Finals will take place at Dozer Park in Peoria the first weekend of June.

Last season, the Hornets fell in the Sectional Championship game to DuQuoin.
