Mrs. Caroline A. Novak of Ashley, departed this life at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 1:15 PM. She had attained the age of 96 years and 16 days.
Mrs. Novak was born on May 1, 1920 in Washington County, the daughter of Tony and Mary (Lamczyk) Szramkowski. She was united in marriage to Edward Novak, Jr. on October 9, 1944 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2004.
Caroline was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom. She enjoyed gardening and she loved to sewing.
Left to mourn her passing are her two children, Paulette Piasecki and husband Eugene of Nashville, and Don Novak of Ashley; four grandchildren, Jarret Piasecki, Brian Piasecki and wife Maggie, Aaron Piasecki and wife Monica and Stacy Denton; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Avery and Sarah Piasecki and Witten and Morrison PIasecki; a sister, Florence Waier of McLeansboro, a brother-in-law, Barry Denton of Ottawa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, wife, daughter, Janet Denton; a grandson, Dean Denton; two brothers, Leonard and Edward Szramkowski and a sister Loraine Rozanski.
Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, on Friday, May 20, 2016 with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating and with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Should friends desire mass offerings or memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
