The Nashville Hornettes track team is reaping in the awards, as three individuals and two relay teams were named to the All-South Team this past week in Class 1A. Making the team for Nashville was seniors Allyson Grabowski, Emily Harper, and Abby Kroener, as well as the 4X400M relay team, as well as the 4X800M relay. This season both the 4X800 and 4X400 teams qualified for state in Charleston. The 4X400 team that qualified for state was Kylie Kozuszek, Jadah Heidel, Grabowski, and Taylor Cook, while the 4X800M relay team was Grace Maschhoff, Cook, Grabowski, and Kozuszek. Grabowski also qualified for state in the 800M run, while Harper qualified in the shot put, and Kroener qualified in the discus.
This season was very successful for the Hornettes, as they won the Nashville Invitational Tournament outright for the first time since 1999. The Hornettes also took home the Southern Illinois River To River: Mississippi Division crown outlasting last year's champion Carterville. The Hornettes would then go on to win their Class 1A Sectional, and sent an incredible nine athletes to the Class 1A State Meet which was held on May 19.
