Well, well, well some got a million dollar rain in our area Saturday, some none, some a few drops. Varied 0.1 to 1.8 inches. Very spotty.

Steve and Gina Droege assisted Ryan & Kayla Droege move from Jackson, MO to a home they purchased in Cape Girardeau.

Darleen Miller, nee Reitz of New Athens, a former OHS classmate of mine, passed away Thursday. Friends paid their respects at the Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens Monday evening. Funeral sevices were held at St. John United Church of Christ, New Athens with Rev Dr Robert Koch officiating. Burial in Oakridge Cemetery New Athens.

I just couldn’t resist sharing; God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece! I’m sure there are other opinions.

Stanley & Ora Mae Droege attended the Porta Westfalica German Festival Tuesday evening on the Courthouse Square, Main St downtown Waterloo. The parade was no comparison to the Wheat Festival Parade. We did enjoy the food, music by the Bud Light Brigade, Waterloo Municipal Band & the ever popular Waterloo German Band. Harry Wolff, the leader, said it’s 71 years since he, his mom & brother started the band.

Geez, Hockey season barely over and just read, Blues will celebrate 50th Anniversary as a franchise, regular season opener Oct 12 in Chicago, the following day they face the Minnesota Wild in the home opener. Will be here before you know it. Along with celebrating their 50th Anniversary season in 2016-2017, the St Louis Blues also will treat fans to the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic against the Chicago Blackhawks at Busch Stadium. Now reading about hockey, don’t you feel cooler?

Amazing animals. Ground squirrels don’t come out of their underground dens until April or May. During their short summer, they eat plenty of food to fatten up. By the end of June, adult males are ready to go back into hibernation.
