Edward D. “Ed” Hubler, age 78, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:40 a.m. in Memorial Hospital, Belleville.

Ed was born on April 7, 1938 in Rice, a son to Edward G. and Addie Mae (Jones) Hubler. On February 15, 1969, he married Barbara McMillian in Belleville, and she survives. Ed was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Rice, and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a laborer in Belleville, and Nashville, for over 40 years. Ed was a member of Laborer’s Local #459, enjoyed farming, gardening, reading and tinkering in his shed. His most favorite thing was to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara “Barb” Hubler of Pinckneyville; one son, Keith (Tara) Hubler of Pinckneyville; one daughter, Kerri (Austin) Konkel of Salem, MO; six grandchildren Alexis Anderson, Caitlyn Anderson, Kaleb Hubler, Addie Konkel, Gunnar Konkel and Ivy Konkel; two sisters, Anna (Dean) Hougland of Pinckneyville, and Gladys (Clyde) Dempsay of Pinckneyville; one brother-in-law, Paul Oscar Dempsay of Wilmington, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Dempsay.

Funeral services were held at Concord Baptist Church, Rice, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Skip Leininger officiating. Interment was in Concord Baptist Cemetery, Rice. Military services provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504.
