Wednesday began as a pleasant day as Marie Kolweier and I went to the Okawville Senior Center for lunch and to be entertained by the RSVP band. After reading the paper, I laid down for a short rest before a tasking evening of playing cards with Norman and Rosemary Koenigstein. Suddenly I received an abrupt wake up call by the loud whoosh of wind and limbs crashing around the house. We had several trees completely down and several with limbs down. Some tin blew off the chicken house, slicing ears of corn in half in the field across the road. Our power was off from about 4:15pm till 1:15am Thursday morning. Having a generator installed this year, we got our card games played. Our neighbor also had limbs down, roof damage and limbs causing major damage to his pool. But we were all blessed of no injuries.

Steve and Gina Droege and Stanley and Ora Mae Droege were among guests at the home of David and Tiffany Droege Saturday afternoon for an enjoyable afternoon of various games and fellowship. Most popular was the water slide. David and Tiffany also had large limbs and trees down from the storm on Wednesday afternoon and did not get their power back until Friday night at 10:00pm

A pleasant surprise was in store for Ora Mae Droege, for her Birthday, Sunday morning. Her friend, Veronica Liszewski, attended worship services with her at St John’s UCC Johannisburg, then, with her input, arranged for Stanley and Ora Mae Droege, Steve and Gina Droege Brian and Susan Wisneski and Veronica Liszewski to enjoy breakfast together at New Memphis Station. Very nice. Later in the day, Stanley and Ora Mae and Marie Kolweier visited with the Rinderer family at Highland. I received a telephone call from daughter Cindy as well as other messages and cards. Thanks everyone
