Hoyleton – July 20, 2016

Patricia Rensing

Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Hoyleton will worship in its regular weekly service on Sunday at 10 am. Everyone, no matter where you are in life’s journey is welcome to attend.

The scriptures of the day are from the book of Luke, Chapter 11 verses 1-13. These are very familiar passages that include Jesus teaching the disciples a prayer after they had asked for one. Jesus said, “begin your prayer with the words, Our Father, who art in heaven…” And so the prayer was set for thousands of years to be said by Christians when speaking with God.

The additional theme for the day is the parable Jesus told the disciples about ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened for you. These words challenge us in today’s world where some things come so easy and other things seem so hard to understand.

Camp scholarships are still available through the church.

Members of the church continue to collect items for Kindercottage “Christmas in July” promotion with every family being asked to bring one item. A list of the items requested is available at the church.

Church Council will meet on July 24th following worship at the church. Agenda items include cleanup of the storm damage. Placement of the bell, and final restoration items.
