Washington County Athletes Lead Southern Illinois Quakes

The 17U Quakes Baseball team from Southern Illinois are having an outstanding baseball season playing against the top 17 and 18 year old college exposure teams in the Midwest. They currently sport an 18-7-1 record and won the SIU Carbondale Classic baseball tournament against a formidable group of 17 year old college exposure club teams. In four tournaments so far, the Quakes have finished 3rd of 20 in the 18 and under Tournament of Champions, 6th of 20 in the MidAmerica 18U World Series, and made the final 8 in bracket play of the 37 team Butler University/UIndy tournament.

A couple of Nashville High School seniors are leading the way. Ryan Brink currently sports a .357 average at the plate. He also has been key on the mound with a 2-1 record and 1.42 ERA. Hayden Heggemeier has hit .313 and played stellar defense in left field.

The Quakes finish the season July 28th to the 31st in Bloomington, IL for the DSP 18U World Series.
