Mrs. Eleanor Lau Fletcher of O’Fallon formerly of Venedy departed this life in the Barnes/Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., on Thursday, July 28 at 12:05 A.M. She had attained the age of 74 years, 8 months and 1 day.
Eleanor was born in New York, N.Y., on November 27, 1941 the daughter of Albert Lau Kee and Chan Gee Kee. She was united in marriage to David Fletcher in the True Light Lutheran Church in New York on June 11, 1966 and he survives her passing. They had just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Fletcher graduated in 1963 from City College in New York, majoring in chemistry with double minors in Biology and Business Management. Later on she was accepted into the PhD program in Environmental Science at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Eleanor was a former member of the St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy, where her husband, Pastor David Fletcher served as minister for over 24 years, and she was currently a faithful member of Blessed Savior Lutheran Church in O’Fallon. She loved to sing and was a choir member at both churches.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Pastor David Fletcher of O’Fallon; a daughter, Charity Floyd and husband Wayne and grandson, David Floyd all of Boston, Mass.; one brother, Henry Lau Kee and wife Jean and one sister, Barbara Hoe and husband Robert all of New York; nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services were held from the St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy, on Monday, August 1 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Vern Lintvedt officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. Salvator Lutheran Church and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
