Former Nashville Grad Wins Two Awards

The Ohio Valley Conference released the 2015-16 Commissioner's Honor Roll on July 27. This year a record 1,335 student athletes were named. To qualify for the list, student-athletes, must have been eligible for the entire season, and finished with at least a 3.25 GPA.

For Nashville Hornettes softball player Nicole Deering was named to the list. Deering plays softball at Southeast Missouri State University.

This season Deering, appeared in 40 games for the Redhawks, batted .171, scored eight runs, had 1 RBI, and two stolen bases.

Deering was also awarded the Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor. The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given to the student-athletes who achieves the highest GPA in a Conference Sponsored sport. Each Medal of Honor recipient carried a perfect 4.0 GPA.
