Eleanor Fletcher, 74, of O’Fallon entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 28. Friends paid their respects at Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville Sunday. Funeral services were held Monday Morning at St. Salvator Lutheran Church in Venedy with burial in the Church Cemetery. Her husband, Pastor David Fletcher had been a Pastor at St. Salvator.
Sandy Epplin, Rosemary Koenigstein & Ora Mae Droege enjoyed “Girl’s Day Out” last Wednesday traveling the road to Centralia. Upon arriving at Java Joe, the antique area was explored before partaking of lunch at Java Joe Coffee House. Byrd Watson was also explored before returning home.
Saw several advertising signs on the order of Burma Shave signs on our way to Wisconsin last weekend. One was – Hey Criminals, You Better Be Wary, Illinois Has, Concealed Carry.
Brian & Susan Wisneski and Kyrsten, Blake & Serena Wisneski & Ryker joined a group of Clinton County friends to vacation at Moore’s Resort at Kentucky Lake Saturday, returning home on Wednesday.
Cheerfulness is what greases the axles of the world. Don’t go through life creaking.
Some area residents attended the Lion’s Chicken Dinner at The Okawville American Legion Sunday.

2. St. Anthony Catholic Church Picnic, Saturday August 6th. Chicken Dinner Beginning at 4PM. Quilt & Cash Bingo starts at 6:30 PM and other attractions.
3. In Celebration of their 145th Birthday, Zion United Church of Christ, Addieville, invites you for an outdoor Birthday Picnic on Sunday August 7 from 11 AM to 2 PM. Outdoor Worship at 11am. Food will be available & free activities, games & live music. In case of rain it will be held at The Addieville Community Club.
4. Come meet your friends at the 69th Annual Venedy Picnic and Homecoming. Saturday August 13. Antique Tractor Pull starting at 11am. Sandwiches available at 11am. Supper at 4pm – chicken plates etc. Musical entertainment, The Venedy Band 4:00 to 6:00pm and Backroads Band 7:00 – 11:00pm. There will also be games & Bingo, Fun for All.
Some area residents attended TOP Ag Appreciation Dinner Thursday at the Okawville Community Club Hall.
Cindy McHenry & Ora Mae Droege made a road trip to Wisconsin on Monday, returning to Johannisburg on Tuesday. Cindy Left Wednesday morning for their new home in Columbia MO (Lake of the Woods).
From the purchase of Grizzlie tickets at the Zion UCC, Addieville Drawdown by Veronica Liszewski, Veronica, Paula Sherman, Stephanie Fahrner, Gina Droege, Ora Mae Droege and Nathan Liszewski & Jenny Carroll enjoyed Saturday evening together at GCS Ballpark in Sauget. The ladies of the group were selected to participate in a game between innings and later were moved to a suite to watch the game. With it being “Ladies Night”, after the game, the ladies in attendance picked up plastic eggs off the field in hopes of winning diamond jewelry. No luck for our group but the Grizzlies did beat the Windy City Thunderbolts 7 – 2.
